How a Dietitian Can Help with Gout

Gout is a common form of arthritis. Gout is a condition where uric acid builds up in the blood leading to crystals forming in joins. Your joints may become swollen, red and very sore.

Uric acid is a normal waste product created from breaking down certain foods. With gout, your kidneys are unable to remove enough uric acid from your blood and over time can build up in your joints.

We Can Help With

  • Understanding which foods are triggering symptoms

  • Identifying the dose of foods that you can tolerate

  • Creating a plan to meet your nutritional needs

  • Assisting with body composition changes

  • Assisting with reducing blood pressure if high
