How a Dietitian Can Help with Diverticulosis & Diverticulitis

In diverticular disease, small pouches form in the lining of the large intestine. If these pockets become inflamed or infected this is called diverticulitis.

We Can Help With

  • Understanding the connection between diverticulosis/ diverticulitis and food

  • Developing a pattern of eating to manage a flare (when the disease is active)

  • Developing a pattern of eating to manage remission (when the disease is not active)

  • Identifying any trigger foods

  • Creating a plan to meet your nutritional needs and correcting nutritional inadequacies

  • Assisting with body composition changes e.g. help with gaining weight
